Well, not exactly. Science has found that most people are drawn to those who may have physical commonalities with ourselves and therefore also share those same characteristic with our parents. I am sure you’ve either heard it before and or have perhaps even thought about yourself, people may be attracted to partners who look like their parents.
The theory of being attracted to your parents was originally coined by an Austrian neurologist named Sigmund Freud. Yes, that guy! So for guys it’s called the Oedipus complex (Google why and you will puke) and called the Electra complex in females.
As recent scientific findings have shared, both the Oedipus complex and the Electra complex aren’t actually that scientific after all. These notions haven’t actually been proven scientifically, they are all actually unproven theories which means any new research or claims stating these theories as fact aren’t.
In one recent study, a Scottish researcher named David Perrett of the University of St. Andrews reported that men are attracted to women who resemble their mothers, and women prefer males who remind them of their fathers. Ultimately they found that the study was flawed, and dishonest. During the study participants were shown multiple photos of potential partners not knowing that hidden within the photos was a photo of themselves slightly altered to resemble someone else of the opposite sex.
So when the participants found those altered photos attractive, the research assumed that this was because the photos reminded the participants of their parents. But this is hardly a scientific way of asserting facts as proven science. It’s almost as if the study provided insight into one unintended feature of the human psyche, which is are we all just a bunch of raging narcissists? I mean are we that self obsessed that we walk around loving ourselves or altered opposite sex versions of our own similarities?
In our industry, escorts are often left wondering why one particular person has an affinity over one particular escort over say another cachet ladies escort? So when we saw the news about this study or the lack of any scientific meaning behind it we were left a little confused and curious. So it’s not that we fall in love with those who resemble our parents, it’s actually ourselves we fall in love with! Than why do so many of our partners more often than not, have no resemblance whatsoever to ourselves?
That also turns out to be false, the research stated that it was actually something called the mere-exposure effect, a phenomenon where people develop a liking to something because they are familiar with it. One thing that did stand out that seems rather obvious is, physical characteristics, similarities like comparable education level, social environment, worldview, value systems and lifestyles tend to promote mutual attraction.
So there you have it, you just climbed into the mind of a Toronto Escort who tried to figure out what the hell is going on with all these men and women, I mean what do they really want? Comments,
